Popinjay – Abnormal

Categories: Personal, Photography, Popinjay

I’m breaking rules for this one. See, I meant to snap a good shot or two at the Louisville Zombie Attack last night. But we didn’t actually make it to the walk. As some of you know my son is autistic and my partner has a lot of the same problems. This can lead to some head butting. Add to that things like nervousness in big crowds, OCD/anxiety issues and difficulty changing (did I mention that I started a new job last week, the first traditional job I’ve had since my son was born? It’s thrown us all into a bit of a tailspin, especially with school having just started as well.) So yesterday was a disaster, and yet the problems that came to pass are all a normal part of my life. They’re considered abnormal by the medical and larger social community, but honestly I can’t think of anyone in my life that doesn’t struggle with some sort of issue. PTSD, depression, bi polar, addiction, autism, anxiety, OCD, all these things, skipping around triggers and sensitivities, these this are completely normal for me.

So I’m breaking the popinjay rule and showing one of the few shots I did get from the Zombie Attack, and one of the other things that’s completely normal in my life (but that many people would find completely abnormal).

Plus, I know that it’s really had being a “normal” person having to be support for so many different kinds of “abnormally” functioning brains, so I’m stealing this popinjay so I can thank my little girl, for all she puts up with from us, and to tell her how important she is to us and how special she is all on her own. (By the way the green bits of make up were her idea, “because all zombies have rotty green stuff growing on them”.)
