Years ago when Magic the Gathering came out & was getting big I asked my brother and some of my friends to teach me though I wasn’t very interested just so I had more in common with them. Many times they refused, sometimes “because you’re a girl”, sometimes because “you wouldn’t like it” but it didn’t take long for me to figure out that it was because they didn’t want me to have more reason to be around. Tonight I finally played my first MtG game, with a group of friends who refused to let me sit on the sidelines and insisted on teaching me how to play. I won.
