HarperCollins to start SF Imprint

From Publisher’s Lunch, September 11, 2008:
“Harper UK is starting a new science fiction imprint, Angry Robot, launching in July 2009. Former publisher of Games Workshop’s Solaris and Black Library imprints Marc Gascoigne is running the new line, reporting to managing director Amanda Ridout. Taking a place alongside Harper’s Voyager imprint, the new label “will be building the next wave of authors,” Gascoigne says. They plan to sell print and digital versions directly from their website in addition to standard retail channels.”

It is so fantastic to see SF getting the nod it deserves.

Also, does anyone know where I might get this bookshelf?

Dear Agents and Editors I’ve submitted to,

While I’m glad you’re finally getting back to me, I’d like to humbly point out that Wednesday is my birthday. Could we please break this crushing wave of rejection for just one day (specifically that day)?

Kthanxbai,

Michele

(who is on hour 29 of a bad day)

P.S.- Acceptances are okay though.

Shelfari…

Is it just me, or does Shelfari completely suck when it comes to adding books? My searches always are way, way off target… well, like Shelfari is owned by someone and trying to sell books other than the ones I’m reading. Even searches for bigger writers, like Ilona Andrews and Brian Keene leave me quite frustrated (and in both cases the authors weren’t even on the first three pages).
