Never Going Home: Tears in the Sea project

I’m fairly awful at self promotion, but I’ve been doing pretty good at writing and hitting deadlines lately. My latest project for Wet Ink Games is Tears in the Sea, a dossier of campaigns for the Never Going Home game I wrote for last year. The Kickstarter just wrapped up (and was fully funded).

Details are below. This has been a fun game to write for. I look forward to it making its public debut later this year.

North Sea, 1917 – One of the many terrifying new weapons of the war is the dreaded U-boat. Something turned the previous crew of U-19 into a twisted mass of flesh partially merged with the ship. The vessel is sound and the flesh still responds to commands, so the German navy sends the cursed ship and a skeleton crew on a special mission: recover all the information they can about a British plot code-named Project RIPTIDE. Contains magic sailor tattoos, a “Echos” Whisper Path and rules for ship-to-ship combat.

 Lead Designer: Tristan Zimmerman

Additional Writing: Sarah Orr Aten, Corey Capps, Michele Lee, Ben Woerner

Never Going Home from Wet Ink Games

My latest project for Wet Ink Games is now available at DriveThruRPG. My adventures and critters appear in the Tome of Corrupted Beasts and the Once More Unto the Breech Adventure book.

These are the same adventures I ran at GenCon this year.

I’m still alive

I’m still alive! I’m still functioning. I’m writing more than ever. I have two pieces coming out soon with Wet Ink Games as part of their Never Going Home line. (Details on the project and setting are here. They are launching the core game, a book of adventures, and a book of monsters.)

One of the projects I worked with Eric Bloat of Bloat Games, Isle of the Amazons for ZineQuest, is fully funded and should have hit backer’s inboxes by now.

Cursed, the first book in my Ripworld Trilogy is formatted and on course to go live by June 1st, that is this Saturday! I’m really excited about releasing this High-Urban Fantasy novel.

I’m also working with Wet Ink Games on a core book for their +One System.

Also, I will be at GenCon in August, running three games for Wet Ink and probably womaning the booth at times. This will be my first GenCon and my first experience as a “Pro” GM. I’m both ridiculously nervous and excited.

Also I still run Reading Bites for Monster Librarian, a YA book blog aimed especially at librarians and public collection specialists. We are trying to migrate the site from the old format to WordPress, but I’ve been working with them for over twelve years now, and that is a lot of content to move.

All this has been around dayjobbery, and some pretty major life events, including multiple breakups. So, I’m quiet, but I’m fighting, and it seems that some of the efforts of that fighting are just now able to come to the light.

Stay tuned. There is a lot more to come.

Coming Soon: Cursed

My latest book, Cursed (the first of a trilogy) is set to come out June 1st!

“Handsome warriors don’t usually just show up in your bedroom in the middle of the night. But when they do, it’s usually with a fleshy tentacle monster sidekick and they’re trying to kidnap you. Then your best bet is to assault them with your alarm clock, breaking the mind control spell holding them hostage, and discovering you are in way over your head in an international magical game of politics where everyone knows the rules but you. And if that wasn’t enough you also find out you’re allergic to magic. My life has gotten very complicate lately.”

My first work in Gaming is now available

The Briton Twins are among the best and brightest the Hegemony has to offer, so it is no wonder they were recruited by the elite Hegemony Intelligence and Surveillance Services (H.I.S.S.).

This Faction for Wild Skies: Europa Tempest is available for use in any Wild Skies game. Have your players dive right in with a cohesive backstory for the twins, pregenerated characters, detail of H.I.S.S., new spy gear, and some hints at things to come!

Buy it here!

Also Wet Ink is running a Kickstarter for their next game, World War Occult.

You can follow the Kickstarter here.

On the first day of fighting at the Somme something happened which thinned the veil between this world and the world of the Others. Soon after came the Whispers. From just behind a soldier’s ear voices told them how they could win. Some resisted, and the Others drove them mad. Some accepted their instructions and sold their humanity for arcane powers. Strange enemies now stalk the battlefield and many soldiers have become twisted parodies of their past selves.

Inspired by the World War Occult art of Charles Ferguson-Avery, Wet Ink Games is ready to bring you into the horror-haunted trenches and march you through the terror-torn battlefields of the First World War. Create a soldier, choose your Whispers, join your fellow survivors, fight for your lives, and protect your humanity as long as you can. You are never going home…
