In Kube’s D&D game (I’m assuming you all have been reading along and know about my preoccupation with this game) my character was best friends with a dryad. We accidentally opened an elder portal after that plot arc was over she chose to go through to the other realm. So we pretty much were saying goodbye forever at that point, and before the party members the dryad was the only friend (not family member) I’d had.

And for balance in the game I’m playing right now (I mean, we’re on break at this very moment) is a Star Wars game and the lone Jedi was forced to watch his mentor be slaughtered. It was a pretty effective scene.
